"Chicago"

Whit, Rob and I went to the Ector Theater today to see the play Chicago. Our friend Dale was one of the stars and they did a fantastic job. I am always so amazed at how Dale can do a complete 180 of himself and go out on stage singing and dancing. This was the first time we had been to the Ector Theater since it has been restored. It is really nice inside although the lobby sure seemed a lot bigger when I was 10 years old. Here is a picture of us with Dale outside the theater. We figured we better get a picture now before he becomes a famous celebrity.

Biker Jen

“Biker Jen” stopped by for a visit. This was the first time Rob and I had actually seen her on her Harley and in her biker attire. You go girl!

TiVo At Last!

I’ve been wanting TiVo for well over a year now but the problem was that I didn’t know anyone personally that had TiVo who could answer specifics regarding what it could and/or could not do. That all changed Friday when one of my co-workers (thanks Scott!) filled me in on what a “life change” it has been for him. So, I did some research last night at the TiVo website and found out they have a $100 rebate special going on. I took that as an omen and we headed once again to our favorite adult candy store, Best Buy to take the plunge.

Rob & I just finished the simple hookup and TiVo is now in the process of downloading and updating itself with the current TV listings—a process that takes about 6 hours the first time! Even though we can’t record anything until the initial update finishes, we’re able to replay live TV and that is way cool!

We also purchased a Linksys wireless USB network adapter (Linksys rules!) to connect TiVo to our home network. The network setup was a snap and this will allow us to play MP3 music and view photos from our PCs on the TV. I can’t wait to test that out!

Can you spot the hidden surprise?

Update:   Can’t get enough of the fun, iconic TiVo sounds? Thanks to Sean Burke, you can find ’em here.

Our New Printer

Several weeks ago, Dede and I had a chance to see an Epson Photo Stylus R200 printer in action at our favorite adult candy store, Best Buy. I had been wanting one of these and seeing it in person convinced us to take the plunge. Our 4-year old HP Inkjet 722 was out of ink and the 2 replacement ink cartridges were going to run more than half the price of a whole new – and far better quality – printer.

For about $85, this printer is an awesome value! It’s a no-frills (no LCD, no memory card reader slots, no complicated setup) printer with 6 ink cartridges for very nice photo quality output and features borderless 3×5, 4×5, and 8×10 prints. Even more exciting for me is that it allows you to print directly onto a CD or DVD with the use of a special caddy.

If you’re in the market for a new printer, this is certainly worth a look! Here are a few links to info and reviews on the Epson Photo Stylus R200.
