We received our I-171H form today from the USCIS (formerly INS, a.k.a. Homeland Security) that we've been waiting on this since the CIS fingerprinting in March. This completes the processing of our I-600A form (Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition) and gives us governmental clearance to adopt.

The I-171H is valid for 18 months and it's the last piece of paper needed for our dossier packet. Now our dossier is now ready to be sent to the state to be apostilled!

(An apostille is a special seal applied by a country's authority to certify that a document is a true copy of an original. You can think of it as an internationally-recognized version of a notary seal.)
