First off, I want to thank everyone for all your comments & support from my last post.   It really does help to know that there are so many other adoptive parents out there who share the same concerns.   You are wonderful!

To clarify from the last post, the region that I mentioned that would not be accepting families until next year is not an existing region that our agency works out of but a new region that CHI is working on getting established with.   I’m sorry if I alarmed anyone with CHI that is currently waiting on a referral in an established region.

Now for some good news...   Just when we had given up all hope on our agency, we received a call from CHI Monday night that has lifted our spirits.   What a difference 24 hours can make!   It looks like we might be headed to Russia sooner than expected even in spite of the fact that CHI still has not been reaccredited.

We were offered an opportunity to switch from the Moscow region to a region in the Chuvashia Republic, which is about 400 miles east of Moscow.   CHI is looking to work with this region and has asked us to be a pilot family.   We’ve accepted their offer which means that we will be processed as an independent adoption.   We will most likely be traveling in October for our first trip.   After nearly 2 years of waiting, this sudden rush of activity caught us off guard.   We are excited and eager to hear our referral news hopefully in the next couple of weeks.
