2 Years Later
Tuesday, October 9, 2007
Today marks 2 years since our adoption journey began. We don’t feel that we’ve made much progress in spite of the fact that all of our paperwork has long since been completed - twice.
Our translated paperwork still sits on somebody’s desk in Russia and we wait. We found out yesterday that our new region is not likely to have a referral to offer us until December (if then). This gives new meaning to the words false labor. Our agency said they were misled by the representative of this new region when they asked us to be a pilot family for them. They were told there were several children off the database ready for adoption and as it turns out they only had one.
We appreciate everyone’s concerns. We are still trying to figure out what to do at this point. We don’t know whether to start over with another agency that has their accreditation or wait it out with CHI.

Isn't it hard to fathom, considering the number of children orphaned, that there are NO children in that region within your age range off of the database?? I am so sorry you've hit this bump again. Have they offered any other new regions or the ability to move to an already existing? I can't imagine your level of frustration. There is a great big world of bloggers out here supporting you, so hang in there!
That's a hard decision to make. The wait has been far too long. Our 2 year mark is Monday. {{SIGH}}
Does CHI have any idea if they'll be in the next batch? Supposedly the next batch is supposed to happen soon.
Becky - they said they don't have any other new regions and the others are only processing ones that are already matched with referrals right now. Thanks for your support!
Debbie - CHI does anticipate they will be in the next batch but then again, I think most of the agencies expect to be so who really knows. I just wish I could find a blogger with a working crystal ball! ;-)
Dede,
I'm sorry you have to reach this anniversary. I honestly feel for you because I watch other families get referrals and come and go and wonder how some of these agencies are moving their people through so quickly and others seem to take forever. I don't know enough about CHI to criticize them, so please don't take my comments as such. Whatever your decision, I hope it brings you to your child soon.
Hugs.
I'm sorry for how long you have had to wait. It just isn't fair. It sounds like you guys are staying positive. :) It will happen!
God Bless.
