Dress Rehearsal

Almost as if she knew we needed a trial run for Moscow, Mother Nature blanketed us this weekend with more snow than we’ve seen in the last four years.
It started with a light snow on Thanksgiving day which was a sudden change from the mid-70 degree temps we had been experiencing for the past few weeks. Here’s a view outside during our Thanksgiving meal. Notice how the trees are still green.
You have to understand, snow in West Texas is a Big Deal! We rarely see it and when we do, it never lasts more than a day. This worked out great for us, giving us a chance to do a trial run on learning how to layer clothing. We went through a few wardrobe changes until we figured out what we feel is the right combination. I guess we won’t really know for sure until we see "the real" snow in Russia.
The snow has continued on since Thursday and it must’ve snowed a lot last night since everything was completely covered this morning. We lost power for a couple of hours today. I guess the power lines were frozen or something. Rob ventured out to Home Depot & Walmart early this morning and said there was almost nobody else brave enough be out & about in the weather. He took this photo while he was out.

Wow! That's some snow (for where you are anyhow). We only got the faintest snow flurries in DFW area on Thanksgiving Day. But I saw the weather had snow yesterday our west.
I love that you had a trial run with the snow. We had a little sleet in VA this weekend but it's supposed to be yucky tonight, rain I think. Take lots of layers - easy to peel off if hot!!
We enjoyed the snow very much at our house! Even if our snowmen are only a foot tall, they are snowmen in West Texas! Yay for snow!
I was thinking about you guys when I watched the nightly news and saw all the pink and blue stretching across west TX on the radar. So did you survive the big test?
Ooooo... snow!!! How nice to see! I would like 1 day of snow - then it could melt and become spring (and to think I grew up in NY!). I'm so glad you had your trial run - how cute! :-)
That's very cool that it snowed on Tgiving. :) But I have to say.... being that we're originally from Michigan your post cracked me up. People losing power over that little snow and afraid to go outside.... haha. It's seriously funny - thanks for the laugh.
ps - I understand, if it snowed here in Cayman the locals would probably all freak out and stay inside, too. Then again - I think it'll snow here the day pigs fly. It's still about 80 here everyday.
