Glasses

Liam received a late birthday gift today but I’m pretty sure it’s one that he is not going to want to keep. We had his eyes examined a few weeks ago and found out that he is farsighted. The doctor suggested that if he wears glasses now for a few years that there is a good chance that he won’t have to wear glasses in the future. He thinks this will also fix the slight strabismus he has which is caused by the muscles in the weak eye having to work too hard.
We have little faith that Liam is going to tolerate wearing glasses since we have not been able to keep his sunglasses on him for more than a few minutes at a time. We shopped around locally for glasses for him and the cheapest pair we could find was over $100 and the frames didn’t seem very kid friendly. Since we are fairly sure that we will be buying more than one pair of glasses, we decided to look on the Internet for something less expensive and better made. We found the glasses below at Zenni Optical and they were only $35 (with shipping!) and he’s already tested the kid-proofedness of them — and they held up!

Funny thing is, we get lots of comments that Liam couldn’t be more like us even if he were our biological child. Well, here’s yet another trait he has in common with both Rob & me...
I’m going to have the glasses checked by the doctor’s office just to make sure that the prescription is correct and they fit him right but it seems like this was a really good deal.
I welcome any advice that any of you might have as to how to keep the glasses on him. I feel it is going to be a real struggle!

With my nephew it is not that much of a struggle simply because he can see better with them on. We just kept explaining that to him and it seems to work.
He looks so cute with them on.

DeDe - he looks just like Rob and not just the glasses. His face shape is very similar.
Good luck with keeping them on!
Liam is a spitting image of Rob!
Isn't it funny how that happens? When we were at the MOE and Vera gave us our referral she said that Luca looks like his Mama, and because of that she chose a referral for us that looks like Papa - and it is sooo true!
As for advice on glasses, I can only say you are right, it is hard for little ones. My kindergarten students who wore glasses were constantly breaking them or losing them. Good Luck..Liam looks adorable in them!
He looks great in glasses!! Maybe a fun strap that he picks out would help keep them on - good luck!
How Cute! He looks adorable in them! Not sure how to keep them on but I had to say he is oh so cute!
hi
My son has been wearing glasses since he is 2 but I think Liam is much younger, right? Maybe if he keeps taking them off, reward him with stickers or something to praise him when he keeps them on. With my son, I remember we had to really distract him in the beginning. He got use to them really fast and I was surprised and thought he would never keep them on. Just keep reinforcing it but I wouldn't fight him the first few days. Laura Bennett
Liam is adorable with his glasses, and looking more and more like his dad!
