Master Bath Renovation

The "pan" in our master bath’s step-in shower developed a slow leak into an exterior wall, so we decided to gut the tiny bathroom and remedy the problem before it caused any real structural damage.   We’d been working towards this for several months and were excited to update one of the most heavily-used rooms in our home with a fresh new look.

Here’s a glimpse of the old master bath before the work began:

We decided to have the short wall replaced with glass block to allow lots of light in.   And we chose earthy 16"slate tile for the other 3 walls of the shower.   Notice that we also had the false ceiling removed, which makes the shower stall feel quite a bit larger.   Also note the Ikea Grundtal Stainless steel shelving we chose to replace the old cabinet.

Outside the shower, here are the new brushed stainless steel shelves & pendant lights, new mirrored medicine cabinet, and vanity/sink combo.   And here you can also get a good glimpse of the Ralph Lauren "Sage Sweater" green paint that Dede picked out.   We chose an "espresso" version of the mirror & vanity to pull in a hint of the Asian-inspired design from our living room.

Here you see a better look at the stainless steel shelving and the espresso-colored wicker baskets that also help add a touch of Asian flair.   We ordered a custom-sized glass shower door from Odessa Glass & Mirror Co. with a glass texture called "Flemish."   The camera flash makes it a bit deceiving, but the glass pattern nearly perfectly matches the wavy look of the glass block.   Paul did an excellent job on the install and even though it was a custom-size & glass style, it was really no more expensive than what Home Depot or Lowes had to offer..
